Covering an area of 35,248 square kilometres, the SEQ region stretches 240 km north south and 140km east west.

It’s home to the natural beauty of some of Australia’s best beaches, as well as stunning mountain ranges, lush hinterland, vast waterways and an extensive river system. The region offers a clean, green environment, conducive to a balanced, productive and fulfilling lifestyle.
South East Queensland enjoys a very liveable subtropical climate with more than 300 days of sunshine per year and an average daily temperature range of 13 to 25ºC. The region is home to more than three million people, or one in seven Australians. Population is heavily urbanised and is generally more heavily concentrated in its coastal centres.
SEQ is serviced by world class medical facilities, including modern State owned public hospitals, State owned university hospitals working in partnership with the education sector and high-end private hospitals. The region boasts a strong and vibrant education sector with a wealth of quality primary and secondary schools, both private and public, equipping our youth with the skills needed for the challenges of tomorrow.
The SEQ region also benefits from stable government, secure communities and an actively visible, accessible and reassuring police presence. Throughout the region, Local Government provides a range of community support services.
